Grimoire Characters

More Grimoire Characters. I've posted a bunch of these before but these two guys are basically the main characters.
Mia, who you've seen before, and Gestalt.

Working on sketches like these in between the bigger stuff. I've got one illustration almost finished and another one that is GIGANTIC and will probably kill me... but I should be worth it when it's done.

And then there's all the comic pages I've been working on... they've been coming along pretty slowly though. There's no way I'm going to make 30 pages before I enter my internship, been thinking about switching things up but we'll see.

Fate Prototype

Oh man oh man guys....

Fate Prototype was really awesome! Who cares if it was just a 12 minute OVA. The voice cast they had for it was nuts, a lot of big names so I'm hoping that this was just something to test the waters to see if they should make a full series(such a long shot but I'm holding out hope.)

In case you don't know Fate Prototype was the original version of Fate/Stay Night that Kinoko Nasu wrote while in school before the illustrator decided Saber should be a Girl and that Shirou should be the main character. Personally I love both Sabers but I think that Ayaka is a better main character, but then again that's just me. I like Shirou too but melancholic megane loners are more my type.

Fate/EXTRA CCC Optional Costumes

And the obsession with this game continues...

This is why I don't have a lot of comedy in my comics-I'm not good at it, haha...

ANYWAY, I actually wasn't too surprised about Archers new outfit, to be honest, Bride Saber is WAAAAY more over the top and the bondage elements to her costume are much more extreme. I think the reason why I did this comic about Archer's outfit was because of his personality- I honestly can't see him choosing that outfit to wear on his own- Saber(Nero) and Caster however I could totally see wearing over the top outfits on a daily basis by choice.

Although one of the themes for this game is supposed to be a "young girl's Eros" and is a kind of "Heavens Feel" offshoot to the story presented in EXTRA. So I suppose sexualizing the characters in terms of design makes a lot of sense from that perspective.
I'm mostly interested to know how it ties into the first game as what I know about the ending makes it hard to picture.

I'm really really hoping that Aksys will be bringing over CCC, but there hasn't been any news on it yet. FINGERS CROSSED.

Fate/EXTRA

“No offense master….but sometimes I feel more like a babysitter than a servant”

Fate/EXTRA!!! I'm super obsessed with this game right now. Guess who I'm playing as? I was glad that Archer was one of the 3 servants you can choose since he's always been one of my favorite Fate characters. I love Saber too but the Saber in Fate/EXTRA is not the Arturia Saber from the regular cannon but Nero... who's personality is almost completely the opposite. I'll try her out in another play through, but for now I'm rocking the Female Protagonist and Archer.
I'm on Week 4 right now... fighting the WEIRDEST Master yet. I chose to save Rin on my first playthrough. I'm super excited to see where the story goes... although one of the biggest plot points has already been ruined for me :(

Anyway, I've done a few more sketches that I have lined up and plan on doing more from this game, hope you don't get tired of it, haha...

WHAT TIME IS IT?

HIATUS TIME!!!

I posted this to the Transpose Operator site first... but I felt it needed to be here too in case you missed it.

You may have noticed that updates have been spotty over the past month or so.... Read beyond the link to find out more... WARNING- It is long...

There's various reasons for this but most of it is a result of having killed myself over a contest entry-Having CRAZY hours at my day jobs(That's right, JOBS, with an 'S'), and then forgetting how to function like a regular person. The system I had established for making sure I created pages on time got misaligned and to be honest I can't even remember how I used to do it...

My regular day normally goes like this:
Wake up at 6am to go to first shift of first job, at 9am go to second job, at 2pm go home and MAYBE get 30minutes of sleep or eat something, at 2:45pm go to second shift of first job, 6pm go home- try not to pass out-finally eat something-then try to get work done/answer emails/apply for jobs and internships and not pass out, end up staying up until 3am or later, or just not going to sleep at all...
Then...
REPEAT ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL WEEK.
After doing this for about 2 months straight I was a walking zombie, constantly getting sick, and when I had weekends to get work done I'd end up sleeping until 4pm and wasting the entire day because I got NO SLEEP the past week. And even when I did have time to sleep all I could think about was how I had so much that I needed to get done that I'd lie awake for an hour or so before I finally forced myself to stop thinking and let myself sleep. This left me with no time for myself, or friends and family, or ANYTHING accept working and doing the Comic contest, trying to make headway on Transpose Operator and then doing Commissions whenever I wasn't doing anything else. I'm pretty sure it was driving me clinically insane.

The worst part was that even after the contest entry was done, my sleep schedule had been ruined and I couldn't bring it back to normal, it's like being in a state of constant jet lag... and so the past month I've been feebly trying to get Transpose Operator pages done on time, and just when I think I can, I run out of time, or have some sort of crippling existential crisis about my stories and artwork, or decide that maybe I should actually you know... SLEEP for a change. And every time I missed an update I felt like the worst person on the planet, because not only was I letting down my readers, I was letting down myself.
The 2 page a week updates were more for me than anyone else(sorry guys) to make sure that even though I don't get paid to do what I love, I'm still working hard and improving by doing the work. It forced me to keep drawing, and when you have crazy non-creative day jobs sometimes it's all you have to keep yourself connected to what makes you-you. But with every failed update I began to doubt myself more and more, I'd question my motivations and wondering if this thing I'm spending all my time on actually mattered-or was actually any good- did anyone like it? Did I even like it any more?
And while I know that I wouldn't have been able to keep going for this long if I didn't believe in Transpose Operator, that doubt was still there. A lot of it has to do with the fact that the story has barely gotten started. If I had the first graphic novel out you'd be able to read 300 pages at a time and get into the story, but as it is it's 2 pages a week, and when you're showing action or having dialogue sometimes it's hard to stay connected when something that you'd read in a book that would flow from page to the following page is suddenly read piece by piece... it can be frustrating, for readers and for the creator alike. While I love webcomics to death this is always the thing that I've hated about them.
And so suddenly working on pages was no longer fun or meaningful, but a chore I was forcing myself to do, and I was questioning why I was even doing it. With art there is a certain amount of endurance required, sometimes-a lot of the time- you have to force yourself to keep going even when you're tired or unmotivated. Eventually once you get past that, you can keep going and be happy about it, but you have to keep going... and this is why I kept trying and then failing to update on time. I'd work on it and remember that it wasn't always this hard, and that I like what I'm doing, but it wasn't the same, and when I couldn't deliver on time I felt like a failure which made me feel like an awful person and a lazy artist who couldn't kick her own ass enough to get the work done. Even though I felt like I was trying as hard as I could.

I'd text message my friend at 4am and whine about how terrible I was and that everything I do sucks, she'd reassure me and tell me logically why I was being dumb and that it wasn't as big of a deal as I thought it was--- and then eventually through our disscussions I realized what the hell was wrong with me...

I was burned out.

I felt like when an artist says that they're "burned out" they're just making excuses, not working hard enough, lazy, or just don't care enough. I didn't even think it was a real thing because I thought that working hard could solve it... but it turns out that I was wrong... And so I hated myself because I thought I was just making those same excuses that I usually scoffed at others for saying, I didn't want to accept it and kept trying to work at it, but it just made things worse-unreliable updates and self loathing are NOT a productive combination.

And so I've come to a decision. I'M GOING TO LISTEN TO MYSELF FOR A CHANGE AND ACCEPT THE FACT THAT I NEED TO REST EVERY NOW AND THEN. I need some time to get my shit together and make a stock of pages for Transpose Operator. I have a very important internship coming up in March, and so about halfway through February until the end of June my life is going to be the craziest thing I've experienced yet- it will be fun and rewarding- and even though I won't be getting paid I plan to work hard and learn as much as I can. However this will make things hard in terms of updating the comic, I won't have all my resources and I'll have even less time than usual, however I plan to keep working on this comic through all of that- but that means I probably won't be able to get 2 pages done every week-So I need to plan ahead. SO I NEED TO HAVE THE COMIC TAKE A BREAK. It feels dumb to do it so soon after Transpose came back, but things can't continue as they are and I need to accept the fact that I need to make a compromise with myself if I'm going to make this work in the long run.

30 pages... that's what my quota is. I don't want something like this to EVER happen again, so I need to make sure I'm prepared. I'm only working 1 job halfway through December so I'll have more time. My tentative goal is around the end of January/before I leave for the Internship in February. I don't ever want to let down my readers or myself like this again, so I won't be starting the comic back up until I've reached 30 pages of stock. That's just how it's going to be.

And so that's my long-winded shpeal about what the hell has been going on with Transpose Operator and me for anyone that wanted to know. I don't usually post about personal things on the internet, but this webcomic means a lot to me and so I figured that I owed it to anyone else who cares even a little about it to understand what's been going on.

Grimoire Classmates

Working on stuff that I shouldn't be; coloring sketches because comic pages are destroying me right now and I needed a break. Here's those guys from my work in progress 2nd webcomic.

It's possible that the next page may be late... the first time ever...*dodging pitchforks* SORRY! - if it is, it just won't be up at midnight but it will still go up on Monday... so that's still on time, right?

Grimoire - Fate

revamped sketch from awhile ago. Finally refined it and added color. It would be cool to do an actual finished illustration of this one day and fix/add everything I want to.

Still trying to illustrate more of the feel of this story. Also there's a new character here that I haven't shown before, he's kinda really important. Normally there's more to his outfit but I had to simplify it just because of the pose going on here, still not sold on the colors though :/ gotta work on that.
Wish I could tell you guys more about this story but for now I can't... yes I am lame like that, but there's a time for everything and when things are more finalized I can talk about it more.

In other news, my old printer/scanner combo decided to break which is the worst. I have comic pages that need scanning too. Guess I gotta see which friends are in town and if they have a scanner but I know none of them have photoshop... I feel the image looks best when you scan/import into photoshop, but maybe that's just me.

ALSO: TRANSPOSE OPERATOR CHAPTER 3 HAS BEGUN. If you weren't aware of this before you are now! Here's the cover below, yep, Levi's the lucky guy on the cover(or not so lucky)

First page of the new chapter goes up on Friday! So pay attention! This next chapter is gonna be the craziest most action packed one yet, and it's where I feel the story finally gets started. Chapters 1 and 2 are more like exposition really compared to the whole of this story. It's kinda nerve racking in a way, I feel like I've been rehearsering a play for 3 years in my head and now It's finally going on stage...

I've been meaning to do this for some time actually but I had so many other projects that it got pushed to the side and forgotten for awhile.
Just like with the last one this one features the main character from comics/novels/game/etc that I'm working on. I can't expand too much on the individual projects but I can give you a short run down.

Karin - Transpose Operator

Karin is the main character from my webcomic Tranpose Operator. She wakes up with no memory in a strange facility where the caretakers are far from human with bad intentions to boot. She gets drawn into the various conflicts that are going on in her world as she tries to figure out the truth of who she is and how she got to the facility while trying to stay alive in the process. It's a post apocalyptic sci-fi epic that's currently updating and is the only story so far that's had content published whether in print or on the internet.

Karin is also 25,the oldest main character of the group and the second one that I created out of the 5 above.

Mia Harvent - Grimoire(Temp title)

Mia is the main character from the 2nd webcomic that I'm developing right now. It's still in the planning stages so things could change around a lot, I may even change Mia's name, however the characters and most of their base relationships are solidified, and the premise is solid. It's going to be a kind of urban fantasy story that focuses on magical tomes called Grimoires and a war that's been going on behind the scenes involving multiple worlds and the space between them.

Out of the above characters Mia is the newest one I've created, and at 17 she's the second youngest.

Adele Tanner - Meggido

Adele belongs to the first story I ever created that I decided to keep developing. Before Meggido there were MANY MANY other stories and ideas, all of which got tossed for one reason or another, the main reason being they just weren't good enough. The story went through a ton of changes before it found it's direction. Meggido is an epic set in a low-fantasy world in which Adele is accused of a crime she didn't commit and is forced to leave her country to survive and ultimately prove her innocence, there's a lot of political intrigue, and crazy science and military stuff going on... also... Sky Pirates. Originally this was going to be a comic, and it probably will be once I feel I have the skills to take it on, but I think in a perfect world it would be an animated series or a video game.

Adele is 19, and if you've been paying attention you'll be able to guess that she's the oldest character I've created out of those above.

Sera - Eyes of the Chosen(Temp Title)

Sera's story isn't super defined right now, but I have a good direction for it in terms of characters and set up, however the plot/scenario changes quite frequently as I'm not sure what direction I want the theme to take. For now it's a sci-fi fantasy story set in a futuristic metropolis. Sera shows a certain kind of potential and is scouted for a specialized secret academy where the learning curve is almost impossible to keep up with, and the complicated political situations in the city make things even harder. The more I work on this story the more I'm convinced that an Illustrated Novel, or a Visual Novel would be the best medium for it, and not a comic.

Sera is the youngest at 16 and is right behind Mia as the 2nd newest character in the line-up.

Kiley Monad - Snow Red(Temp title)

Kiley was originally the secondary main character in a story about a group of kids making a documentary involving the prejudice in their world as they come to realized that everything around them is not as it seems. However the more I worked on this story the more I realized that Kiley was actually the main character. The basic world premise and character relationships remained the same, but it's not about them making a movie anymore. It's a low sci-fi story taking place in a gritty city that has the episodic premise of Kiley and his friends being draw into the lives of people in the city and helping them until things start to get serious and they realize what's going on in their world. This is another story that I had thought to turn into a Visual Novel and had actually put work into making it one, however I'm not so sure what medium I'd like to do this story in now... it's hard to say.

Kiley is 17, the same as Mia, and is the middle child as he was created in-between all the characters in the banner.

So that's everyone. I have several other series in development but these are the ones getting the most attention right now... although I suppose these days Transpose Operator gets 90% of the attention, Grimoire get 9%, and the others share the last 1%... haha... ah well, such is life. I feel like I'll never have enough time to do all the things I want to but at least that means I'm never depressed over having no direction, right? I'm hoping that eventually when I get Transpose Operator down to a science it'll afford more time to work on everything else, but for now, I'm content to let it take up my time.

Group Hug

Transpose Operator is going on a short break in-between chapters. Originally it was just going to be a week-long break, but it's now officially a 2 week break. If you haven't heard I've been working on an entry for the Morning International Comic Competition (MICC), the deadline is coming up so I have to work extra hard on it and it alone- I've even cashed in my vacation days to finish it so you know it's crunch time.
In the meantime I'm going to be posting art here to the sketchblog and Transpose Operator will resume on Monday, November 7th! So mark your calendars!

Panacea pages

So these are the first 4 pages of my short story submission for the Morning International Comic Competition(MICC), Panacea.

I'm going to be posting larger versions on DA too if this size is too small for some readers. It's been awhile since I worked on a short story but I gotta say it's fun. It's nice to be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel for a project to be finished. Don't get me wrong, longer stories are my favorite and it's good to know what you're working on next, but having a change of pace like this is really nice.

I've got a lot more pages but... again I'm not sure when I can upload them/I kinda want to print this thing if it doesn't win the MICC. So we'll see. ANYWAY! Hope you had fun reading this preview!

Panacea

So I've been talking about my MICC entry for some time... and haven't shown anything from it yet. Mostly because I've been so busy with the content creation, but I finally wanted to show you guys some sketches from it. It's called Panacea, and you'll understand why after you've read it... haha...

It's about "mermaid-monsters" and a village on a small island on the ocean with a secret.
I'm almost 3/4 of the way done with it... behind schedule but I know I'll be able to get it in on time.

the main character-Kanna is the little girl in the front. She looks a little older in this sketch than what she turned out looking like in the comic, she's about 11 or 12. The white haired bishonen guy is the 2nd main character.

The kids at Campfire(before and after school program where I work) got ahold of my sketchbook one day and when they saw these thought the bishonen guy was a girl, when they said that I knew I was right on the mark. I usually don't draw "pretty" guys, I was actually worried about making him look right but it turns out I had nothing to worry about. Haha!

These are earlier sketches when the story was about 2 sisters. After going through edits and reviews the younger sister got cut and Kanna's age got reduced, originally she was around 16 or 17. I was messing around with style too, I had been thinking about doing a more simplified character style... but... that didn't end up happening.

Transpose Operator Profile

Was doing some copic marker stuff the other day while watching a bad movie. This is a character from Transpose Operator who will be showing up in Chapter 4.

The color of his hair is all wrong, he just has brown hair... but I didn't have the right color marker so it's kinda redish here, oh well. It's a lot of fun to draw with color in an analog medium, I get so used to coloring in the computer that I forget what it's like if I don't remind myself from time to time.

Gonna try and post some preview stuff for my MICC entry in the next few days... it's about time, right?

Flame

Doing some more lighting exercises with fall colors. Maybe I'll do something that's actually fall themed next time.

Levi is always fun to draw even though he looks pissed off all the time... maybe I just like drawing angry characters or something. Then again they all have a reason for it, they're not just angry for the sake of it.
ANYWAY, he's going to be doing some cool stuff next chapter so watch for it!

Transpose Operator Karin Hard Light

This sketch was from an earlier outfit design before I had decided on a few details for Karin's new outfit. she will be getting a cool poncho/cape thing later too which if you were paying attention to some earlier sketch pages you may have noticed.

Bang Bang more Grimoire Story stuff

Did I tell you I love October? Halloween is one of my favourite holidays and I love the seasonal foods, Pumpkin-Spice Lattes and iced pumpkin muffins are the best :D.
I wanted to make an effort to do some creepy art this month and here's the first.

This was actually really fun. I like working with silhouettes. Originally it was supposed to be a gif and animate between the above image and this one:

for added creep factor, but I couldn't figure it out in CS5... and it was taking up too much of my time by the point that I was overly frustrated with it. So... on a different day and maybe even when I'm working on a different project I'll figure that function out.

So yes, more art from my WIP 2nd webcomic. I have so many sketches back logged, including massive Transpose Operator sketch page compilations. Poor Casey has had his page on the back-burner for so long...

More Grimoire Story Sketches

More sketches of these guys.

These two ladies are good friends, although they don't start out that way. As energetic as our main character is, her friend is far more cheerful. They always seem to have fun together no matter what.

I'm been withholding the names of all the characters in this new story mostly because some of them may change as they have several times already. I could at least give the names they have now when I do specific posts for each character. I want to do it eventually but I'm not sure when that's going to happen.

Right now I'm a little more than halfway through my MICC submission. As fun as it is I can't wait for it to be over and sent out in the mail! Still gotta ponder on how I'm going to post it online... and I may not even be able to until the contest is over and judged which is in March sometime which would be a bummer :/ but we'll see.

Whoo! It's done at last! I had some issues coming up with the right graphic look for these images but in the end I'm pretty pleased with it! haha- it looks a lot like a video game menu, right? Maybe I'm going through withdrawals...

Transpose Operator Character Images - Karin

YOU KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS
I've been working on the character pages for Transpose Operator for some time now... but in-between insane work schedules so that I can eat and exist as a person, my MICC submission, and updating T:O pages it's been slow going....
however finally I can get into completing those pages now that I have some complete images! So I wanted to let you all see a preview!

This version is still a little rough around the edges but it's basically the final version. I'm going to do images like this for every character- at least the main ones, some minor characters may just get bust shots, we'll see. I have a bunch of line art backlogged to finish these for all the characters that have been introduced and for a few that haven't been seen yet.

Grimoire Dramatic

This was some concept stuff for the school uniforms at the private school that the characters attend. I really like the design but I don't think it really jives with the story or this characters sense of style. But still it was fun to make. Who knows, maybe I'll use it somewhere along the way- Winter uniforms?

I'm still working out a lot of kinks considering their school... it's changed a lot along the way. I think some of the issues had to do with the story taking place in a fictional American city... and American schools don't implement school uniforms... but I LOVE designing/drawing school uniforms... so now it's a private school cause that's the only way I can justify it. Okay that's not COMPLETELY true, there's a lot of other reasons why it had to be a private school, so the uniforms were a nice bonus.

Still working on my MICC entry! Over 1/4th of the way through! I can't wait till it's done, it's actually turning out pretty good if I do say so myself.

And these guys... this is basically how they all work together as of now. Just a quick sketch to illustrate their relationships, they're a pretty good group of friends. The two guys have been friends the longest, they're pretty good bros.

Hooded Shadow Fight

More stuff from my work in progress 2nd webcomic. This girl is the main character, although I may switch up the narrative so we'll see. She's definitely fun to draw.

She really likes to fight and has excellent hand to hand combat skills... this has gotten her in trouble more than once to be sure... she's a tomboy who wouldn't wear skirts if she didn't have to since they're impractical, so she wears shorts under her skirt. If she needs to high-kick someone she doesn't want be embarrassed by her attire.

Man this week was crazy... I've been so busy and the deadline for the MICC is coming up soon. I plan to post at least the first 10 pages here so you can read it :) I want to find a way to post it online in it's entirety eventually. A way to do that may be to do updates on the Transpose Operator site or something. I want to make a site for short stories but since I only have 1 that's presentable and a million other things to do I'm not sure when that's gonna happen but it's on the "to do" check list.

Grimoire Story Sketches

I've been working on the story with these guys for quite some time. I have a TON of sketches of them that I've been dying to show off for about a year now... however until I have more time and more of the details hammered out I won't be able to work on the website and content for this comic for who knows how long. But I can tell you that it's going to be the 2nd webcomic that I publish(After Transpose Operator) and update regularly... And it's going to be in color(that's the plan anyway).

it's just a matter of time before it happens... which basically means once I'm far enough ahead in Transpose Operator I can start working on this, but I'm going to be honest I can see it taking me at least a year if not longer to debut it. The donate button for Transpose Operator could make or break my plans for this story coming out sooner, but It's not even up yet so we'll see... and 3 updates a week for Transpose Operator is more important to me right now than having another comic to worry about.

I'm not sure how many details I'll be posting but I plan to upload more images for this story-Which doesn't have a title yet- I've just been calling it "Grimoire Story" for over a year now since that's basically what the focus of the story so it's the working title atm.

A lot of things for it are still very flexible right now as you can see from the images above too.

I can tell you that the characters in this story are younger than the Transpose Operator characters, it's basically about a group of high school kids... which I know, I know, we've all heard THAT story before... but trust me on this, I'm trying my hardest to make it something different.

I'll probably be posting more art for this story since there is a lot of it, so look forward to seeing more of these guys!

The End of Chapter 2!

Today marks the last page of chapter 2… but don’t despair there’s going to be the question and answer section coming up! I was able to answer all the submitted questions so if you asked questions on the site or through email look forward to being featured in the extra pages.

There will also be some guest pages, a short week long break, and then chapter 3 will start back up in October! Character sketches

These guys don't belong to any particular story, they're just fun to draw.

The girl has ice powers and is rather sullen. She tends to feel pretty entitled also almost like a princess or a queen.

This guy is pretty informal and doesn't pay much attention to customs or pleasantries, he basically does what he wants. He's pretty skilled with twin swords.

These two probably won't get their own story, but they're fun for me to draw so you'll probably see them again.

Nel Sketch Page

Nel is a lady with a bad temper, in case you haven't noticed. She's the second youngest member of the Resistance group aboard the ELDRIC. Not only does she have a bad temper, but she gets set off really easily... especially when a certain person is involved.

When I originally created her design her hair flippies weren't so apparent... but the more I've drawn her the more exaggerated they've become, it's pretty funny looking back now. Consequently her first design was older and had dreds... I wish I could find the sketch book that had those but I think it's been lost to time and space.

SIDE NOTE: this was posted late because I've taken on a crazy schedule right now. I'm working 3 jobs that equates to about 12hrs a day... and then I somehow have to get art done(comics, portfolio, stuff for the website, comic contest entry), apply to jobs, and somehow sleep. So while I'm getting used to this new schedule there may be delays to blog posts or comic page notifications.

Chibi Website Page Headers

Continuing on with rejected website ideas... I was going to have images at the tops of the various pages within the site with individual characters. However the chibi style really doesn't jive with Transpose Operator... so it was dropped immediately. But I did get as far as inking some of the designs.

I may improve some of the page headers in the future... but I want them to be type-font not images.

When I was making the Transpose Operator site I went through a number of different ideas for the look of the site before deciding on the final one. Here's 2 of the former headers.

This was the first one.

It was way too shiny, the outfit on Karin didn't fit for SO many reasons and the anatomy was wrong :/ It was one of the first color things I did of Max so this was the image where I finalized some of his colors.

And this was the second one.

The outfits here were the final ones although the colors on Karin's outfit aren't. The drawing style is a lot more accurate than the first one too.

Mary Sketches

Mary is the main- and pretty much only medical technician on Max's ship, she's not very outspoken and is easily influenced but she's no idiot, she just listens to other peoples opinions and considers them instead of deciding how things work and stubbornly sticking with them. Mary had made her last appearance in Chapter 2 but she will be coming back for chapter 3.

I've been meaning to get this sketch page up for ages, and I finally finished it last night. I should be able to handle regular sketch blog updates now since my deadline has been extended... although I'm sure that's good thing or a bad thing...

Mitsuru is one of my favs from Persona 3, she's so damn cool. I always had her as part of my final team.

it would be nice if she didn't have such daddy issues... although she's not as bad as Yukari so maybe I shouldn't complain...

Been busy with stuff as usual and got a killer sickness that made me miss about 3 days of work. I'm hoping by next week I can show you guys a preview of my MICC submission, but we'll see.

Yay! I have time to post a sketch page! It feels like it's been forever...

I've been steadily working on my M.I.C.C. submission. It feels overwhelming but do-able which makes me happy, but there's going to be a LOT of sleepless nights in my future I can tell you that.

Anyway, the sketch page this week is Levi from my webcomic Transpose Operator. He's the kid with a bad attitude who likes casually calling Max "Boss-Man" instead of his actual name. He's the kind of kid that gives arbitrary nicknames that change frequently and are often insulting(although not in Max's case)... and that's about the only way he ever tells a "joke", seriously kid, where's your sense of humour? Lighten up!

A lot of these are process sketches but he's generally the same, a little different here and there but not much. Eventually I had his beauty mark ended up under his right eye but on some of the sketches it's on the other side since I wasn't originally sure what side to put it on.

I gotta get a sketch page together for Mary soon as there's a lot of images sitting on my computer waiting to be compiled, cleaned up, and coloured. If I make my comic page quota this weekend I'll be sure to work on that next.

Whiteboard Madness

I was babysitting a few months ago and me and the kids were drawing on a small whiteboard. I took pictures of a few that I did with my crappy cell phone camera, take a look! :)

We were watching Kiki's delivery service, I had to attempt a Gigi, it was hard not to.

Persona 3 Akihiko & an Announcement

Continuing on with more Persona 3...

Akihiko is pretty dumb, I can't help but laugh at him all the time for being ridiculously dense but I suppose that's why he's endearing. He loves boxing and protein... and that about sums him up.

I really love all the P3 characters, it's hard not to. Even Yukari, who I find annoying, is still a character I ended up caring about by the end of the game.

And now for.... AN ANNOUNCEMENT:
Sketchblog Wednesday's will be few and far between UNTIL THE BEGINNING OF AUGUST. The reason for this is that I'm working on a short story submission for the M.I.C.C. and it will consume ALL of my time until the deadline. Even my work on T:O is going to be significantly slowed down because of this(don't worry this won't affect updates in any way for the comic), and finding time to do weekly updates for the blog will be impossible unless I miraculously have a spare moment. I have a couple sketch submissions set up to post at certain points while the comic is running-like right before a few characters show up, but beyond that there's only going to be posts when I have time.
Just wanted to give a heads up to everyone.

Transpose Operator Sketches

These are concept sketches for a character that is going to be appearing in the 2nd chapter of Transpose Operator. He's kinda important... also not a very nice guy.

When coming up with his design I just kept thinking "angry old man angry old man angry old man", so it's no surprise that the bottom middle sketch resembles a certain Manfred Von Karma, from a certain Phoenix Wright DS game.

In the end I chose the top Left colored image, although he's a bit older. I'm not used to drawing super aged characters on a regular basis, but the more pages I draw him in the better I'll get(hopefully).

Saya

If any of you have been keeping up with me on twitter you may have noticed some of my tweets about a Visual Novel published by Nitro+ called "Saya no Uta". I started watching the whole thing on youtube and eventually downloaded the game itself so I could see the multiple different endings.
It deals with a lot of interesting and frankly taboo, or terrifying themes, and being a horror and Lovecraftian aficionado I decided to give it a try. The end result was one of the most amazingly different love-stories that I have ever encountered in all my years of reading, watching and absorbing fiction(so far).
For some reason(I felt like it) I'm giving a review/observation of the VN below the sketch for this week, read if you dare.

Saya the title character- her design is really cute I couldn't help but draw her.

((SPOILERS BELOW!!!))

The main character, Fuminori, is involved in a terrible car accident that kills his parents and almost kills him, months later he wakes up in the hospital but is unable to see, however his sense of hearing tells him that something is different about the world, and his sense of smell, taste, and touch let him know that something is terrifyingly wrong. It becomes even more apparent a month later when he is finally able to see again. He's assailed by horrifying "flesh-beast" creatures around his bedside that spew foul bile and talk in unintelligible voices, not only are the creatures extremely disturbing, but the very building he's in appears to be made of putrid flesh and other unmentionable rotting things. He's repulsed, horrified, and driven half mad, assuming that he's been thrown into hell itself.
Or has he?
Chained down by his captors, and tired of thrashing around to unsuccessfully free himself, he's left with his own thoughts and the disturbing scenery. Being a college student going for a Neuro Surgery degree, as time passes he comes to realize that something awful must have happened to his brain in the accident. Slowly he's able to make out the words of those around him, and realizes that he is in a hospital in the real world, and that the "flesh-beasts" he sees around him are in fact his concerned friends and doctors. This realization becomes increasingly apparent with time, and even when his doctors let him go once he seems more calm, his perception of the world appears to be constant; this is the way he will see the world his entire life; everyone is a horrifying, disgusting, blob of a creature, and the very world itself has become a rotting stinking flesh prison.
So like any normal person faced with a lifetime of this hell, he contemplates suicide.
However someone stops him in his thoughts. A young girl peers down at him from his hospital bed, she looks human, sounds human, and when he takes her hand-feels human. Seeing another human after so many months of this horror show causes him to break down crying, and cling to the one thing that now makes sense in his world-Saya.

And that's the way the world of "Saya No Uta" is set up. Throughout the story we see the perception of his friends in the real world where everything is normal, juxtaposed with Fuminori's horrifying reality. Fuminori delves closer to madness and alienation from the human world as the story progresses, eventually delving into pedophilia(Saya appears as a loli), cannibalism(Dead humans appear as ripe fruit to him), and murder as if it were nothing. Our main character becomes truly corrupt as his friends are slowly dragged into his downward spiral until it becomes apparent that Fuminori really is the BAD GUY, and his friend Kouji is the real HERO who tries to understand what has happened to his friend and why his world has been turned upsi-down as a result.
But this is where things become truly interesting. Because no matter how repulsed and horrified you become by Fuminori and Saya's actions, their love for each other almost dominates that feeling with sympathy. That's not to say that by the end of it you want the good guys to die and for them to prevail... but you kinda do in a way. Their love for each other feels so pure despite all the suffering and horrific events around them.
This is where the perception of morality comes into play. Saya is not governed by human morals, she is in fact a Lovecraftian horror from another dimension beyond time and space who understands the world on a totally different plane of existence, and who's sole goal is the reproduction of her species. It's her drive for reproduction that causes her to become interested in the human concept of love, and slowly her perception of simple reproduction is changed - there is no reproduction without love. She becomes "a dandelion in the desert" as she says, knowing that nothing on this planet could accept and love her, and that eventually she will wither and die. The scientist who found and introduced her to human culture also disappears, and she is left with nothing. Aimlessly she wanders back to the hospital that this scientist once worked at in search of him, and it's through her nightly explorations of the place that she comes across Fuminori. In his state, something that in reality is probably a repulsive tentacle creatures appears as a beautiful and fragile young girl, and even after he comes to the realization that his perception is what makes her appear this way he chooses to love and accept her anyway. Probably because he's crazy, but mostly because he is able to see her "soul"(as they put it), something which no one else can see. It's through this acceptance that we see how pure their love is, and how they no longer care for the morality of regular humans. It's displayed to a frighteningly extreme degree in the "true ending" in which the entire world becomes the way Fuminori perceives it, which from his perspective, makes things normal to him once again- in other words - every living thing on the planet becomes a creature like Saya, and the world becomes a horrifying rotting flesh prison. But then again, that's just the normal human perception, in this new reality. I'm sure everything appears normal to the creatures now living in it, once again showing how important/ignorant our perception of things really is(or could be).
This perception is both physical, emotional, and metaphorical, but in the end it's really just a story showing how powerful love can be.
That's not to say that there isn't other things to be had from this story-obviously it's also terrifying, it does have some sex scenes(that weren't as gratuitous as I was prepared for *sigh of relief*) that cater towards fetishists of one kind or another, and some ultra violence(although it's told and not shown), but with this juxtaposition of "traditional controversy" there's also a deep discussion about human existence which is what kept me watching until the end. Although that's not completely true-the mystery and edge of your seat circumstances kept me wanting to find out what happened next. As disturbing as some parts became, my curiosity made me continue on to the conclusion to see what became of these characters and the world of this story.

Some random character notes:
-Fuminori... I kinda hate this guy... but I also kinda don't. throughout the entire story I wanted to be unsympathetic towards him, but the way the story is told still makes you feel bad for the guy regardless of whether you're rooting for him or condemning him. His descent into madness seems logical-as strange as that may sound, and you wonder what other choices he could have made, but in the end he's just a guy in a crazy situation trying to protect the girl that he loves and his life with her. It's kinda hard to hate him in this respect, however you still know that nothing good can come from him accomplishing his goals.
-The way Saya is physically portrayed is especially interesting. Although she is a Loli(look it up if you still don't know what this means...), they make it painfully obvious that her true image is so terrifying to humans that looking upon it will drive them mad(Unless they're like the scientist who found her who was crazy before he met her). The few glimpses and observations from characters in the real world show her to be a slithering kind of creature who reeks of stagnant swamp water, leaves behind gross residue, is cold to the touch, and consumes the raw meat of animals(and eventually humans). It makes the fact that she appears as a beautiful young girl to Fuminori all the more interesting when you consider the contrast. It makes you think that she HAD to be that way in order to convey what they wanted thematically. I couldn't help but think of how she couldn't have been anything other than what she was, despite my dislike of the whole "Loli fetish", it somehow felt justified if that makes any sense.
-The best character BY FAR(imo), was Ryoko, the therapist/inquisitor. she's very unassuming when you first meet her. You know she knows more than she's letting on, but you also get the sense that she's just as much in the dark about the goings on as anyone else. Turns out she's a little crazy herself(because of what she's seen) and carries a sawed off shotgun with her 24/7. I found watching her and Kouji figure things out to be rather interesting, it gave the VN a good amount of detective work in-between all the horror. You know me, I love detective stories. I think I like her more because of how badass she was rather than how deep her character was, unlike the rest of the cast. However her view of the world is one of someone who has peeked behind the mirror to see the truth of the world, and the terror in it has brought her to the brink, yet she won't let it defeat her-however she does become unbalanced as a result.
-Kouji's development was almost as interesting as Fuminori's. Kouji is a super nice and very stable guy who's more concerned about everyone around him than himself, he wants to help his friend who has just suffered the terrible loss of his parents and a lengthy hospital stay, but horrible things keep happening to him, all of which are the cause of the very friend he wants to save, and eventually he goes from "the kind of guy who wouldn't hurt a fly", to someone who is willing to kill his former best friend. And the trick of it is, it's totally justified-you feel like he has every right to it. Depending on which ending you get he's developed even further and starts right into madness himself, seeing transparent nightmares that leak into his everyday life causing him to keep a revolver with a bullet in the chamber so he can off himself at a moments notice if things get too bad.
-Yoh is by far the stupidest character in this thing-but despite that you feel so bad for her that you don't know what to do about it. She's dumb and falls right into a trap that Saya sets for her. I feel like the sex scenes involving her were rather gratuitous, but there's also the fact that the abuse behind them makes her situation even more heartbreaking. Her humanity is taken from her and she can do nothing about it other than plead for death. The result of her character shows just how far off the deep end Fuminori has gone, and the terrifying first look at what all of us will become if the "true ending" of the VN is chosen.
-Oumi is probably close to what most normal people in this situation would be like. She's a little impulsive, but cautious, and her feelings of friendship towards Yoh cause her to investigate Fuminori herself, and because of this she is the first to die by Saya's hand. Her fate is truly terrifying and sudden, leaving Yoh and Kouji to try and figure out what happened. Her disappearance causes her friends to start their own investigation. and the sadest part of this whole thing is, she's the example that trying to fight something unknown on your own is a BAD IDEA. Yet each of her friends do just this and suffer similar-if not worse, fates. I felt that in this way Oumi was more of a tool of the narrative than a character, however I felt myself connecting with her regardless.
-The story itself seemed very true in spirit to Lovecraft stories I've read(minus the "fan service" parts). there's an oppressive and inescapable atmosphere in this story that never lets go. You feel nervous for the characters and know basically from the get go that this story will not be treating them well. Which is basically how every Lovecraft story starts out. It all feels very real in a way, the only supernatural thing in the story is Saya, and the violence and terror surrounding her is what drives the story. There's very few modern-day interpretations of his mythos(that I've seen anyway) that have had the same sort of dread and madness in them. I would say that the fact that Saya no Uta is a love story is entirely contradictory to Lovecraftian style as it has NEVER been present in any of the stories I've read, but I feel that the way it is portrayed does not do him an injustice(of course again minus the "fan service"). Bottom line - I feel that it's a welcomed modern-day story that uses the expansive mythos he has created.

And so that's my long rant/observations about the Visual Novel "Saya No Uta". If you feel like taking the plunge down the rabbit hole and finding out what this is all about, then the video below is the start of a full playthough(the same one I watched), all the sex scenes have been omitted-obviously since it's Youtube-so those of you that would rather avoid them can easily do so.

That being said, I don't normally do huge posts like this, I just kinda felt like it in this instance. So whether you liked or hated it, I don't think I'll be doing this very often.

Transpose Operator Landscape Sketch

Digital sketch for my webcomic Transpose Operator.

There's a character there if anyone can tell. I'd give extra points if you could guess who but you guys haven't seen this character's face/design before so it's not really fair.

I've been messing around with world elements and stuff, thinking about how I'm going to need to portray them, and this was a good exercise to start with, but I still have a LONG way to go. I think I was having so much fun with the textures that it ended up being more of a mood sketch than an "accurate" sketch, if that makes any sense.

Ship Concepts

These are several concepts for the various ships in the first few chapters of Transpose Operator. The top one is the final for the most important ship in the story. It's basically the home base for most of the main characters. It's a self sustaining living ship that can go for months(sometimes years) without needing to be resupplied or repaired.
It hovers, and despite it's size is relatively quiet. It's not equipped with a lot of artillery as it relies more on speed and defense, and the skills of the individual members living on it.

It's funny, even though it's so important this craft doesn't have a name yet. I've been considering taking votes on several of the names I've been thinking about, but I'm not sure how much feedback I'd actually be getting from that. If I do decide to have a poll I'll be sure to let everyone know.

Christmas Cookies

So this is kind of heinously late. But I made a bunch of Christmas cookies with friends and family in December. There was a lot of awesome food too, although our cookies looked the best of all. I took some photos to document it although I wish I had more process photos, it was quite an undertaking, let me tell you. these were also taken with my crappy razor cell phone so excuse the quality.

Out of all the cookies I made this was my favorite one. I figured I should make AT LEAST 1 creepy monster cookie among all the holiday themed ones.

Even though he looks scary with his melty red eyes and huge green sprinkle maw, he just wants to be friends with everyone so he wears a pretty pink dress to try and let everyone know that.
At least I think that's a dress, it could be the blood of his victims... I'll let you be the judge.

There were a few other monster ones. My friend Su and I made a pair of zombies, this one was mine, he had some kind of weird 3D proboscis eyes and mouth that got a little jumbled in the end game. But he's still a blood thirsty sugar cookie zombie despite his deformities.
Unfortunately by the time I went to take a picture of Su's zombie twin SOMEONE HAD ALREADY EATEN IT!

Su's Pac-Man cookie survived long enough for me to get a picture of her displaying it.

The Christmas Party was at my friend Maddy's house. Her mom has this neat village set up with a working train set(also Elvis' house). It was funny when all the toddlers arrived because they crashed and broke it at least 5 times before it had to be put away.

One of these days I will remember to bring a PROPER camera to holiday/exciting events... It was fun doing this photo blog, so hopefully this will be the first of many to come.

Karin and Max Sketches

Max Sketches

Hey, do you guys remember how in my webcomic Transpose Operator, Karin is the only character we can ACTUALLY see? Everyone else is in those damn environmental suits, so most of the cast hasn't even been seen yet. However if you've frequented the blog you may have seen in some of the sketch compilations a particular character with an eyepatch- Max.

Some of these sketches are older than others and so Max's scars, hair, etc are a little different in the older ones. I was still figuring out his design and appropriate back-story elements that would influence his image.
In the end I'm pretty happy with his design and he's definitely one of the more fun characters to draw.

Karin Sketches

If you've only just discovered Transpose Operator recently, you may notice that the main character does not have a name yet. However if you've been watching my blog or were from the Comicfury site you may notice that I've let it slip once... or twice... that her name is Karin. "OMG SPOILERS!!!" you may say, however It's not that big a deal, she gets her name in chapter 2, as you'll soon find out.

I've been drawing Karin for years and her design has changed slowly, more stylistically than any particular elements of her design. The sketch page below has a few examples of the older style and the newer style.

It's kinda interesting to see the progression. I've had a hard time in the past making Karin look her age, and in some of the beginning pages she looks more like a teenager than a young woman in her 20's, which is one of the reasons that lead me to re-do a lot of the pages. Then again maybe that's just me.

Also- points for anyone who gets the Persona reference among these sketches.

I plan to get myself on the schedule of posting a new image to the blog every Wednesday, this post will be the first of many to come. I'm trying to get into the habit of producing more art on a schedule, and this is the start of it.

Hello again. I didn't mean to go so long without posting, I've been busy with uprooting my life to move back home, job hunts, holiday stuff, etc., and the Transpose Operator site has been my main concern so things kinda died down here.
Speaking of that, I haven't posted about the Transpose Operator official site that went up a few months back. I've posted art and info about it on here before, and when it used to be on Comicfury there was a news post about that. But now I have my own shiny new domain that I got to design and pull my hair out over.

Updates are every Monday and Friday, just like at the old site. Hopefully when I get faster at making pages we can add Wednesday and have 3 updates a week, but for now it's just 2.
If you followed all the way up until the end of Chapter 1 on Comicfury you'll be ahead of the updates since at the moment we're at page 45. However every page has been retouched and in some cases completely re-done(The script included!), so it's worth a re-read if I do say so myself.

I also registered Transpose Operator on "Top Web Comics", and I'd appreciate your votes! I don't know if I'll be doing incentives or not, but I will make sure to let you know if I do. I realize sometimes this is a deal breaker for people, but I don't feel like I need to "bribe" my readers. If you appreciate the comic then you'll vote, if not then you won't. Incentives are a fun thing to have, but I doubt people will only vote for Transpose Operator because of them. And I figure spending my time on making more comic pages is more important than doing incentives :)

Shadow Hearts Alice Elliot and Yuri Volte Hyuga

Did the Alice one awhile ago, and finished the Yuri one tonight. These are the two main characters for Shadow Hearts, a game for the PS2 back in.... 2000 I think... maybe 2001. In any case Shadow Hearts 1 and 2 are some of my favorite games of all time, And I play a lot of video games. The storylines of both games are amazing, the characters are quirky and wonderful, and the games are a lot of fun to play(the battle system in the 2nd one ROCKS). I could write a whole essay on why I love those games, but I'll spare you all that...

So just in case you haven't played these games(If that is the case, GO BUY THEM NOW.)I won't give any spoilers, but in the first one... *sniff* the ending to the first game still gets to me, even if I did get the GOOD ending, it doesn't matter since the BAD one is cannon :( kinda sucks how that happens...

I honestly don't know why I haven't done more fan art of these guys, especially since Yuri is one of my favorite characters ever.

The Dishwasher Sign

So my roommate and I have the issue of not knowing whether or not the dishes in the dishwasher are clean or not. So I made these little signs so that we can just flip it if we want to indicate if the dishes are "Clean" or "Dirty".

So I used Transpose Operator for the "Dirty" side as their world is pretty... well... dirty and broken. Haha, it just seemed appropriate.

And I used The Next Adventure for the "Clean" side as their world is very bright and colorful. I just did the line work for this one, Francesca colored it.

The puncture marks are from the cats climbing up on the counter when they shouldn't be and biting it. i have no idea why they thought that was a fun idea.

This has been long overdue.

I finally got around to scanning all the images in my sketchbooks that I had been meaning to do. I seriously went through and entire sketchbook without scanning anything. so that means I can hopefully be more consistent like I had been in June and July.

Still working on chapter 2 pages, I'm so excited I wish I could show them all to you guys right now, but I gotta restrain myself till the website is up. I gotta say as fun as it was drawing those helmets in chapter 1 I really like being able to draw the characters faces.

I re-did the cover for obvious reasons. This is the version that will be in Kindrid as well as on the site when it goes up. If you wanna see the original idea go here. For the first two chapters there's going to be a sort of theme, in otherwords there will be a destinctive picture of one of the main characters. I may keep going with this theme, it works well for the first 2 chapters so if I decide to drop it it's fine, but who knows, I may keep going, we'll see.
Anyway, this version is basically done save for the title appearing above her head and the other text things that need to be input.

Hey everyone, been gone for awhile. Lost of IRL stuff going on lately like relatives visiting, needing to find a job, and such.
I've been doing art but haven't had a lot of time to post it or update about what I've been doing. so in an effort to start doing my regular posting again I'll be showing you some neat stuff. Fellow artist Francesca Buchko and myself have an anthology book coming out soon. Been hard at work on that and preparing the official website for Transpose Operator. I did a lot of work on previous Transpose pages to prepare it for print.
I was kinda surprised by how much things have changed-or more like how much I've changed as an artist while doing the first chapter. it's always fun to see that, "yes, I am improving" even though sometimes it's hard to tell.

I completely re-drew the first 7 pages or so. Here's a comparison of the first page re-do. Basically frame for frame, most of the other pages were changed but I always liked the progression of these three panels, so it ended up being exactly the same. It was a fun exercise too to see how much I had improved.

And then other pages were COMPLETLY changed, like this one. I had always hated the original page cause I felt it looked too shiny, but I had always liked the fact that sometimes seeing someone's reaction to something scary can be worse than seeing the actual thing. It prey's on your fear of the unknown. So I kept this same thought in mind, but I feel it was much more effective in the new version.

In addition to drawing completely new pages, every other page has been re-worked and edited. Like this one here. After finishing the first chapter it gave me a lot of persepective to know what read better, or what was more or less necessary. For example making the bottom panel the entire frame was far more effective to make a creepy oppressive atmosphere. So entire panels were cut.

All these new pages are going to be included in the book, and when the website goes up. I've been working on chapter 2 pages, but I'll tell you right now that I won't be posting new pages until the official site is finished. Which depending on my situation could be a little while. I basically have to raise some money to buy server space, that's my biggest obstacle right now. I could probably put the site up by this time next week if I had the money. It's really frustrating... the starving artist is a real thing, people...

If anyone knows any CHEAP and RELIABLE places to buy server space I'd appreciate you telling me in the comments section.

In any case, I'll be doing a post substantial post about the anthology soon, look out for it! And in the meantime I'll try and post regularly again :) It's good to be back!

TransOp The Mysterious Girl

If you're all caught up on Transpose Operator then these should look vaguely familiar to you. these are the process concept sketches that I went through when coming up with the design for the mysterious girl that shows up at the end of the 1st chapter surrounded by monsters. At the bottom you can see what my final designs are and the colors for her. As you can see, she went through a lot of very different designs before arriving at this final one.
I wanted her to be a very startling looking character, so when most of the backgrounds and atmosphere is very dark, her white outfit with red highlight certainly makes her something that draws the eye. It kinda makes me wish I did this comic in color though as that red would REALLY stand out.
No comment on who or what she is though-"that's a secret!"

Trying to get her closer to the original artist style. It's been awhile since I tried to emulate a style that wasn't mine. it was a fun exercise.
Shigenori Soejima is pretty AWESOME. All his art is so stylish. I hope he's the dude in charge for P5. Although I don't know if I prefer him over Kaneko :/ I think I just like both those guys a lot. I still don't know why Kaneko didn't do the designs for P3 and P4 in the first place... did they fire him or was he just not interested??? He was the man behind P1 and both P2's... so it's strange that Soejima was chosen in the first place. *shrug* at least things turned out well in the end as P3 and P4 are awesome :)

Okay, so I love these guys. Persona 3 has just invaded my mind lately. I never beat the game originally but right now I'm playing FES and waiting for P3P to come out. July can't come soon enough!

You probably won't be seeing anything from Meggido is a tangible story form for a LONG time. TransOp is taking up all of my time and I'm working on a new story in addition to that. Meggido was my first EPIC and as such will always hold a special place in my heart. I know it has the potential to be great, but I don't have the skills/time to give that story all that it deserves for the moment, so it's the back burner for now... and probably several years later maybe I'll actually make a NEW Nyron comic instead of re-posting this one...

I WANT TO PLAY IT~!

There aren't enough GOOD games with LIKEABLE female main characters. I'm very ready to like the female protagonist of Persona 3 Portable for the PSP. Her name is Hamuko if Danbooru has taught me anything. You can switch between her and Minato, and new game plus options give you even more cool stuff so it has a lot of replay value. I had never played through my PS2 copy of Persona 3 and sold it after it was just collecting dust and they came out with FES, but I think this is gonna be the one, I really do. MY PSP IS LONELY I NEED P3P TO KEEP IT COMPANY.

I wish it was coming out around my birthday but I'm a month too early, ah well... maybe someone will pre-order it for me as a present? huh? anyone? any takers? *crickets* I guess not...

Okay, it's me. I got the 360 version for my birthday last year and just couldn't put it down till I beat it. It's one of the most beautiful games I've ever seen, and I actually ended up liking the characters a lot more than I thought I would, they were kind of annoying at first, but I came to love the Prince and Elika throughout the journey of the game :)

I'm super bummed that the new game coming out is going to be featuring the old prince and won't be continuing the storyline from the newest game. I don't mind waiting for the sequel... but I can't help but feel a little anxious that they won't pick it up again... D: it's just me being paranoid... right...? A lot of the "hardcore" fans were bitching about this game not being a new Sands of Time, so I'm worried that Ubisoft just caved to the fans to leech off of their old franchise who's story has obviously ended, instead of making something new and original and continuing what they started.
Time will tell I guess...

I'm still crossing my fingers just in case!

ARGH! IT HAS BEEN FOREVER! sorry I don't have anything beyond a sketch. working on like a million projects, plus IRL issues, have been getting in the way... *sigh*

anyway, this is the main character of a story I've been working on since this past summer. It's changed and morphed a lot, but the main characters for the most part are the same. If any of you are familiar with the "Far Away" RP forum, then you'll know who I'm talking about when I say that Noah has been incorporated into this story. Unfortunately I do not have a name for it as the one I have for now is dumb and is in reference to a topic that may not even be incorporated into the story any more.

In any case, the story is a Science and Technology meets magic story where magic and high science(Like androids and immersible Net or Web functions) are a prominent part of the world, and something that everyone is familiar with. There's monsters and stuff too. It's something that needs a lot of work but I'm really excited about the idea.
The main character is Sera(16years old), and here she is in this sketch below. She's gone through a number of different haircuts, but I'm pretty sure about this one. I may actually color this sketch at some point, I just hope I get enough time to as I'd really like to finish it!

Just discovered a new webcomic called Key recently. Read all 150 some odd pages in a day and it's still going. It was fun :) and I like the characters too!
So I decided to do a fan art for it! I like all of the 4 main characters, but I think that Jerlorn and Ki are pretty cute, put them together and it's extra cute.
Ki likes warm clothes, and Jerlorn hates sweets. I imagine that they both just came in from the cold and Ki made them hot chocolate... not knowing that Jerlorn hates it. Haha... ah... he's too polite to say otherwise though...

Looking Glass Comic site!

ah, I bet you guys thought that I had forgotten about this place, huh? I've been working for the most part on Transpose Operator so I haven't been doing much with Meggido... also... in regards to that... I'm doing an anthology with a bunch of friends(contact us if you want in :D), I'm not using Meggido, but a short story that I came up with 2 years ago and had been meaning to do. It's gonna be 2 chapters long as well. Anyway, I'll talk more about that story at a later date, but why I'm mentioning it is because as soon as that story is done I will officially begin work on Meggido. It's been a long time since I came up with it, but now I have an inescapable deadline that I'm holding myself to. It will be wonderful to finally start on it, but it's a humongous story... so it's going to be a daunting task to undertake, I hope that you'll all follow along with me when I start it. There will be changes from things that I've talked about previously on this blog regarding the story and characters, but I'm sure no one remembers any of that stuff anyway, right?

So yeah, now back to the topic at hand(i.e. the title of this post...), I'm going to be posting Looking Glass on ComicFury, along with Transpose Operator. Updates will be Wednesday and Sunday. Once I get done with chapter 1, chapter 2 might take awhile to get started, for that I apologize in advance, but I guarantee it will be much better than chapter 1.

I figured it would be more dramatic, but it's not even an art post but an info post. Kinda lame I know... but there's big news involved... kinda...

Transpose Operator now has it's own comic site. For now the blog is still the main base of operations, but to read actual content this site will be much easier and looks pretty nice actually.

New page on Transpose Operator. I am going to be posting weekly updates on Mondays and Fridays (for realz this time guys...), so check for new comic pages. Gotta start working on a website... I keep saying that but... I NEED to get it done, preferably sooner rather than later.

Also I've been going through Meggido and have been cutting and simplifying things greatly. I still need to finalize a few big decisions and re-write the outline before I can be sure of the storyline now. Not committing to anything at this point though.
Will let you know for sure when I orginize the anthology info and send out an email to all interested parties. Been late on getting this done for various reasons that I won't get into now, but there will be a formal announcement when the time is right.

So here's a poll question for anyone reading:
Should the Anthology have a seperate blog?

I know that having to post your work in two seperate places can be confusing and possibly too much work. I don't want to cause a headache on this. I'll be using the Meggido story for my submission, so I could just post all updates here? Hopefully I can have a descision on it made in time for the info email.

The closing of the Formal Art Blog

So there was no reason to have the "Formal Art Blog", pretty sure no one knows of it's exsistance, that and I don't update very often. The original idea was to have an online portfolio of sorts... but let's face it... blogspot is not the place to do that... something like that is much better suited to a website.
But in order to preserve the few posts I did have. I'll be copy-pasting them here so those that didn't see them will have a chance to look, and I can keep them for my records.

Portrait of someone you hate

For digital illustration we were given the assignment of creating a portrait of someone that we hate. While honestly I don't really dislike anyone enough to hate them, I'm not too fond of Paris Hilton, so that was who I chose.
Both were done in illustrator.

Historical Fiction 6 Pages

I had thought up quite a large story for a what was supposed to be a simple project so I just did a six page excerpt from it.
To kind of lead you into what the story is about so you're not completely confused: it's set in a fictional 1930's America where Vampire's are basically living "with" humans. Different clans an factions exist among the vampires, but the leading human organizations aren't governmental based like you would expect, instead the different Gangster families are leading in terms of power.
The main character Hayden was saved by an elderly vampire when he was young and lived with him until the old man died, but his death was not a natural one. The one responsible for the old Vampire's death is a very powerful vampire by the name of Georgiano. Hayden leaves on a journey to take down Georgiano and finds friends along the way, gradually building a team that will take down Georgiano once they find him. At this point in the story, only Glenn and Charlotte have been gathered, each for their own reasons, but they all share the common goal of wanting to destroy Georgiano.

You may or may not of noticed that I've neglected this blog the past month or so *nervous laughter* Well I could make excuses and such but really, it was a kind of post-graduation slump... I'm not entirely out of it yet, but I think that if I keep working on things it will get better with time. Or at least I hope so.

No, not by me! My wonderfully talented friend Asuka from Japan has done an awesome fan art for Looking Glass!

T-T had to shrink the image! One of these days I'll learn how to manipulate the blogger templates in HTML so I can post larger images!
